Samsung Gear S2 Smartwatch Water Resistant Equipped with First-ever e-SIM – Supports 3G Connectivity & Wireless Charging

Samsung has announced the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch, the first ever e-SIM water resistant smartwatch that supports 3G connectivity and wireless charging. The new Gear S2 comes in a versatile, circular design with a unique rotating bezel, along with the Home and Back buttons ensuring users have a quicker and easy access to notifications and applications.

The new smartwatch comes in two different options – the Gear S2 and the Gear S2 classic. The Gear S2 is designed for those who are on-the-go and prefer minimal and modern design. The Gear S2 classic however is made for users who prefer a more timeless watch design, offering an elegant Black finish with a matching genuine leather band.

The Gear S2 is light and thin measuring mere 11.4-millimeter thin, and has a compact design. It packs a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED circular display with resolution of 360 x 360pixels and 302ppi pixels per inch. The Gear S2 watch is IP68 certified, meaning it is dust and water resistant.

Powering the Gear S2 is Samsung’s latest Tizen operating system and 1-0GHz dual core processor with 4GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM, and a 250mAh or 300mAh Li-ion battery that can last up to 2-3 days. The Gear S2 supports wireless charging and can be re-charged on the wireless charging dock right out of the box.

In terms of connectivity; users can choose the Gear S2 with 3G connectivity which incorporates the first-ever e-SIM with voice capability, to perform quick functions without being closely tethered to their phone.

Additionally, the Gear S2 has; Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, NFC, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate, Ambient Light and Barometer sensors. Users can stay connected with at-a-glance notifications to check calendars, e-mails, news and can even send important texts directly from their wrist.

The new fitness functions on the Samsung Gear S2 will encourage consumers to stay healthy and active. The 24-hour activity log lets users view daily activity progress and patterns at a glance. It will also send reminder updates to motivate users to stay on track with their fitness goals.

The Samsung Gear S2 will be available in a Dark Gray case with a Dark Gray band and Silver case with a White band. The Samsung Gear S2 classic will be available in a Black case with a Leather band. It will also be displayed in Berlin’s IFA on September 3rd with sale is expected to follow.
