The new tablets were unveiled in advance of the Amazon’s hardware event which will take place next week.
Ahead of Amazon’s yearly devices event on September 28th, the company has introduced four new Fire HD 8 tablets, to replace the 2020 models.
The company has introduced the standard Fire HD 8 tablet, a plus model, a Fire HD 8 kids edition, and a Fire HD 8 pro kids edition, all of which will be available in 2020 alongside the other Fire HD 8 products. Iterative improvements to the 2022 tablets’ hardware have resulted in a £10 price hike.
This is hardly shocking, given that the 2020 tablets are £10 more expensive than the 2018 series. However, they are much cheaper than the iPads sold by Apple.
Amazon appears committed to keeping the Fire HD 8 as an entertainment-focused budget device, so while it is thinner, lighter, and more durable than its predecessor, and it reportedly has a slightly longer battery life, there are no major, wholesale upgrades.
