Google has launched a new Android One smartphone for India in partnership with Indian smartphone vendor Lava International. The new device is called Lava Pixel V1 which comes with a respectable hardware and a very good retail price. The Android One devices are guaranteed to be upgraded to the latest Android OS for the next 2 years.

The new Lava V1 features a slim bezel 5.5-inch 720 x 1280p IPS HD display with Asahi Dragontrail Glass, 267PPI and 76.3% screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.3GHz processor, ARM Mali 400 MP2 (500 MHz) GPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 32GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 32GB via microSD.

The Pixel V1 comes with a 13-Megapixel BSI rear camera (software enhanced 8 MP sensor) with 5P Largan lens, blue glass filter for images with enhanced clarity, flash and f/2.0 aperture. At the front, there is an 8-Megapixel BSI front camera (software enhanced 5 MP sensor) with 4P Largan Lens and Blue Glass Filter.

There is a 2650mAh Li-Polymer battery with up to 20 hours of 2G talk time and up to 12 hours of 3G talk time. Additionally, the device has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, OTG, GPS/A-GPS, FM, 3.5mm headphone port, dual micro SIM slot, proximity sensor, hall sensor and an ambient light sensor.

The Pixel V1 measures 152.08 X 76.31 X 8.5 mm and weighs 135 grams. It ships with Android Lollipop v5.1 and comes in two striking colors — White-Silver and Gold. It is available to purchase directly from the Indian retailer, Flipkart for Rs. 11349 which is approximately $175 – £115 – €160.
