Last month BlackBerry announced its first Android powered smartphone, named the Priv. Now the company seems to be working on a second Android powered device, dubbed BlackBerry Vienna. During a recent interview with Fox Business, BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen quoted “we have a range of products after the Priv that are actually quite exciting”.

Could the BlackBerry Vienna be one of them? That could be the case, according to the CrackBerry website. The website received renders of what is rumored to be BlackBerry’s next Android powered smartphone. It’s early days to determine if these are the final images of the upcoming Vienna Android smartphone.

Judging from the images, it seems that the physical QWERTY keyboard is here to stay. The physical keyboard on the Vienna is unlike the one on the Priv where you have to slide the screen to use the keyboard, the one on the Vienna is always present. It took BlackBerry a bit of time to ditch its operating system for Android OS. Perhaps it is a good idea to do the same with the keyboard.

The BlackBerry Vienna appears to have a rather large touch display, which is good news especially if you favour touch screens over small physical keyboards. We just have to wait and see until the final product officially hits the retailers’ shelves, hopefully sometime in the near future.
