Canonical has officially revealed the world’s first Ubuntu tablet – the Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition tablet is made by the Spanish OEM BQ. The new tablet features a 10.1-inch touch display and runs Ubuntu operating system and has the capability of delivering both; a tablet and a PC like experience.

The native Ubuntu tablet experience features the ability to access content and services readily through scopes, as popularised on Ubuntu Phone. Hundreds of apps and scopes are already available in the Ubuntu App Store. Additionally, the tablet “side stage” feature allows you to view two different applications on the same screen, with each intuitively optimised for available tablet screen space.
BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu EditionThe new BQ Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition packs a full-HD IPS display with resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and pixel density of 240PPI. Powering the M10 is a quad-core 64-bit MediaTek MT8163A processor clocked at 1.5GHz and coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage, expandable up to 64GB with microSD card.

Additionally, the M10 Ubuntu Edition tablet is equipped with a decent size 7280mAh battery, capable of delivering up to 10 hours of normal usage. The tablet also has a 3-Megapixel front-facing shooter, ideal for video calling with friends and family, and also a respectable 8-Megapixel rear camera with autofocus and dual LED flash, capable of capturing full HD 1080p videos.

The M10 is also configured with dual front-facing Dolby Atmos speakers, providing an excellent sound quality while watching movies and playing games.
