Dell has announced the launch of its new premium lineup XPS devices, featuring the XPS 12 (2-in-1 Notebook-Tablet), ultra-mobile XPS 13 notebook and the stunning XPS 15 powerhouse laptop. The 13” and 15” laptops have virtually zero borders – thanks to the company’s innovative InfinityEdge display system. Whilst the XPS 12 is a detachable 2-in-1 device, combining the portability of a tablet and the performance of a notebook, equipped with an impressive 4K Ultra HD touch display.
The XPS 13 and XPS 15 feature premium and ultralight materials such as carbon fiber and machined aluminum, and the entire XPS portfolio has Corning Gorilla Glass options (only available on touch displays). In addition, stunning panels with sharp detail and accurate colors, and the latest graphics and processors, offer the perfect blend of performance, mobility and durability. The XPS 12 features the versatility of a Notebook-Tablet factor with a stunning display.
The new XPS devices are designed for power users who need the best of both work and play, with features like Thunderbolt 3, which enables one-cable docking and up to eight times faster downloads than USB 3.0. Incorporating high performance 6th generation Intel Core processors and sleeker hardware, all built for an enhanced Windows 10 experience.
Starting with the XPS 15 borderless laptop – The new XPS 15 is a powerhouse laptop designed for users who appreciate top performance – excellent for gamers, coders, designers where speed is needed to run highly intensive programs. Packed with an impressive UltraSharp 4K Ultra HD 15-inch screen with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and 100 percent minimum Adobe RGB display. At just 11-17mm thin and Starting at 3.9 lbs (1.78kg), and with the option of Non-Touch or Touch-Screen display variants, the XPS 15 is the lightest performance-class 15-inch laptop.
Offering powerhouse performance on-the-go, the XPS 15 is underpinned by 6th generation Intel Core processors (up to i7 Quad Core), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics (2GB GDDR5), high performance memory up to 16GB at 2133 MHz, up to 1TB hard drive or 1TB PCIe SSD storage, and Thunderbolt 3. Second in line is the XPS 13 – This upgraded version of a previous model was unveiled earlier this year at the CES 2015. The XPS 13 now features 6th generation Intel Core processors and graphics, more storage and memory (up to 1TB PCIe SSDs and 16GB RAM, respectively) and Thunderbolt 3. Dell claims that the XPS 13 is the smallest 13-inch laptop on the planet. It also features the borderless InfinityEdge display with the option of Full-HD 1920x1080p Non-touch screen or QHD+ 3200 x 1800 touch screen. Equipped with 56wHR 4-Cell battery lasting up to 18 hours and 14 minutes of normal usage. This longest battery life on a 13” device, outperforming other devices on the market.
Last but not least, the XPS 12 2-in-1 – Perfecting the laptop to tablet experience, the new and innovative XPS 12 2-in-1 is designed to easily switch between laptop and tablet with a magnetic connection that enables one-handed transition. It is the only 2-in-1 device with a 4K Ultra HD display option, with 6 million more pixels than a Full HD display. Packed with an 8-Megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-Megapixel frontal shooter, allowing you to capture the world the way you see it. The XPS 15 and XPS 13 are both customizable. In the United States, the XPS 15 starts at $999 and £1099 (~€890 – $1390 AUD), the XPS 13 starts at $799 and £849 (~€700 – $1090 AUD), both available to purchase directly from Dell.com and Dell.co.uk. The XPS 12 will be available at the beginning of November through Dell.co.uk, and Dell.com in the United States starting at $999 (~£650 – €890 – $1390 AUD). All three new devices are also expected to make their way to other markets in the coming days.
