O2 has something called “O2 Refresh Plan”; O2 explains “With O2 Refresh, this will include two contracts and two monthly bills – one for your device and one for your airtime (minutes, texts and data). All bills must be paid by direct debit. The device plan is a 0% APR Representative credit agreement with Telefonica UK Limited which means Telefonica UK limited loans you the money to buy the device and you repay it through monthly instalments over 24 months. You can also make additional payments (which will reduce the monthly cost) or repay the full loan amount early at any time. Once you have paid off the device, you can stay connected to an airtime or data plan for as long as you want to, or you can upgrade to a brand new device or just leave. This gives you flexibility to change your device whenever you want. As the device plan is a regulated credit agreement, O2 Refresh is subject to eligibility, credit checks and an affordability assessment.”
What actually O2 is saying is that, with the O2 Refresh plan you can pay the full cost of the phone if you decide to leave us, and we will wave the unused airtime cost of the agreement. As for the free pair of headphones, in order to get your free B&O headphones, you need to order the LG G5 between 24th March – 7th April 2016 and your LG G5 pre-order must be on 1GB tariff and above.
So here is how to get the LG G5 cheaply and claim your free pair of B&O H3 headphones:
Step 1 Get the Phone
Go to O2: https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/tariff/lg/g5/ Select a plan e.g. the (£79.99 upfront + £27 a month). The £79.99 is an upfront fee for the G5, and the £27.00 is the cost of the phone and airtime combined; (£13.00 monthly cost for the handset + £14.00 airtime (mins, calls, data etc) totalling £27). So the cost of the LG G5 would be like this (£13.00 handset cost x 24-months = £312.00 + £79.99 upfront fee = £391.99 total cost of the LG G5. If you want get the free B&O H3 headphones, it is imperative that you order any plan with 1GB tariff and above; the £79.99 + £31.00 seems to be a good option.
Step 2 – Pay for the Phone
Once you have placed your order, and assuming you have received your LG G5 package, you need to wait 14 – 18 days before you call O2 to terminate the contract, in which you will asked to pay the full cost of the handset. Remember you have already paid the £79.99 upfront phone fee, so the remaining is £312.00. You may get charged a few pounds for your airtime plan for the first month if you did not cancel on time. If that happened, it should be a small amount which will be calculated pro rata by O2. The phone will be locked to O2, but once you have paid the cost of it you should be able to get it unlocked, just remember to ask them to do that.
Step 3 – Get the Headphones
After making sure you have paid the full amount of the phone and sorted things out with O2, oh and the 14 – 18 days have already past. It is now time to claim the free B&O headphones. When you have initially received the LG G5 package you should have automatically received a Voucher or a leaflet of some sort with it. Step 4 – Sell the Headphones
If you wish to bring the cost down even further, you have the option to sell the B&O headphones, which are valued at £149.99. You might be able to get £70 – £100 for them on eBay, but that really depends on where and to whom you are going to sell them. You can keep them if that is an option. What to do with them is entirely up to you.
