Chinese Huawei has officially announced the Ascend G8 in China, a mid-range Android powered smartphone with metal body, a fingerprint scanner and edge-to-edge display.

The new Huawei Ascend G8 has a 5.5-inch IPS Full-HD 1920 x 1080p display, and is powered by an Eight-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 CPU, Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB and 3GB of RAM option with 16GB / 32GB of built-in internal storage with microSD slot.

In terms of camera, there is a 13-Megapixel main camera with LED flash, and a 5-Megapixel front-facing shooter. The Huawei Ascend G8 is equipped with a 3000mAh battery.

The device supports 2G, 3G and 4G networks and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with EMUI 3.1 user interface out of the box. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm headphone port and Micro-USB port.

The retail price of the new Huawei Ascend G8 device is about $370 for the (16GB ROM + 2GB RAM) version, and $435 for the (32GB ROM + 3GB RAM) model.
