Huawei’s Honor 5X smartphone is set to go on sale in Russia this week, Thursday 29th January to be precise. The all metal Honor 5X was officially unveiled in China back in October 2015. Launching the Honor 5X in Russia could be an indication that the new smartphone will also be available in other markets in the next few weeks or months.

huawei-honor-5x-metalIn terms of design, the Honor 5X looks very similar to the Honor 7 with its metal housing. The device is constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum and has an integrated rear fingerprint sensor and a 5.5-inch Full HD 1920×1080 IPS touch screen with 72.5% screen-to-body ratio. The amplifier and speaker are positioned at the bottom of the device. Both are designed to deliver crystal clear sound when talking and making calls in noisy environments.

Huawei Honor 5X DisplayPowering the Honor 5X is an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, Adreno 405 GPU for graphics, 2GB of RAM and a built-in 16GB of storage, expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. There is a 3000mAh long lasting battery with a built-in SmartPower 3.0 technology which provides eight levels of energy conservation, helping you to save battery life up to 30%.

With the Honor 5X you should be able to shoot good images. The device is equipped with a 13MP Sony rear camera which has f/2.0 aperture and wide angle 28 mm, fast Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), Sapphire lens, dual LED flash and SmartImage 3.0 for automatic image processing. The Anti-reflective coating increases the amount of light entering the lens which allows you to capture sharp images even in low-light conditions. At the front, there is a 5MP font-facing shooter.

Other features include; 4G LTE connectivity, dual SIM, GPS/AGPS/Glonass, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4 GHz and FM radio. The Huawei Honor 5X comes in three colour options; Charcoal, Silver Metallic and Gold. It ships with Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system along with Huawei’s custom made EMUI 3.1 user interface.

In Russia, the Huawei Honor 5X is priced at RUB 16,990 Russian Ruble (~$217 – £152 – €201 – $310 AUD) on shop.huawei.ru. Russian consumers who purchase the Honor 5X on Thursday 29th January should be able to watch the upcoming Kung Fu Panda 3 movie.
