Huawei has officially launched a new handset in China. The new Huawei Mate 8 is the latest addition to the Chinese company’s Mate series. The Mate 8 is equipped with Huawei’s new HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor designed to deliver high performance and longer battery life.

The Huawei Mate 8 is capable of handling all kinds of applications and games without worrying about its battery life. The 8-cores Kirin 950 processor is clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with Mali-T880 GPU and a choice of RAM; 3GB or 4GB. The internal memory is also configurable to 32GB, 64GB and 128GB with a microSD slot option.

The 6-inch device has an IPS-NEO LCD touch screen with Full-HD (1920×1080) resolution, pixel density of 368PPI and 95% colour saturation. Measuring 157.1 x 80.6 x 7.9mm and weighing 185 grams including the 4000mAh built-in battery promise to provide up to 22 days of standby time, 42 hours of GSM talk time and 31 hours of internet time.

For mobile photography, there is a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual colour LED flash and Phase Detection Auto Focus, and an 8MP front-facing shooter with f/2.4 aperture. As for Audio, there is Hi6402 audio chip that supports 24bit high definition audio files, integrated sound Chamber and second generation smart power amplifier; 3 Omni-directional mic noise reduction/audio.

Additionally, the Mate 8 has 4G LTE, dual band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.2 and GPS AGPS/Glonass. At the back there is a Press-type fingerprint sensor allowing you to quickly lock and unlock the device. Also you can encrypt files, answer calls or even stop an alarm by just pressing the rear scanner.

The dual SIM device comes with all metal body in Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, and Mocha Brown colour options. The Huawei Mate 8 ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Huawei EMUI user interface 4.0 on top. In China, it starts at ¥2999.00 (~$469 – £310 – €442) for the 3GB+32GB, ¥3199.00 (~$500 – £330 – €693) for the 4GB+64GB and ¥4399 (~$688 – £455 – €953) for the 4GB+128GB model. It is also expected to become available in other markets in the coming days.
