Lava Mobiles is known for producing cheap, budget friendly smartphones for local Indian consumers who seek entry-level smartphones. The new Lava V5 is a 4G handset priced at Rs. 11,499 (~$168 – £118 – €155 – $239 AUD) and is expected to go on sale through India’s main online retailers; Flipkart.com and Snapdeal.com.
The Lava V5 features a 5.5-inch HD 720p display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and has a pixel density of 267PPI. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz MediaTek 64-bit Quad Core processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory with microSD slot supports up to 32GB of additional storage space.
On the camera side, there is an 8MP front-facing camera equipped with 4 layer Largan Lens, F/2.2 Aperture, LED flash and has an 84 degree wide angle lens. At the rear, there is a 13MP camera with Samsung 3M2 ISOCELL sensor, PDAF (Fast Auto Focus 0.18 sec), 5 layer Largan Lens with blue glass filter, F2.0 Aperture and dual LED flash.
The V5 measures 151.9 x 76.7 x 8.3mm and weighs 153.2 grams with the built-in 3000mAh Li-Polymer battery, capable of delivering up to 14 hours of 3G talk time and 260 hours of 3G standby time. The 4G device has dual SIM slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS with GLONASS and Assisted GPS. The Lava V5 runs Star OS 2.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is guaranteed an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
