Chinese Lenovo has repackaged its ZUK Z2 smartphone and relaunched it as the Lenovo Z2 Plus for consumers in India. The Lenovo Z2 Plus packs the same hardware components as the ZUK Z2 smartphone, announced back in May 2016.

The only difference between the two phones is the brand’s name at the rear; ZUK on the ZUK Z2 and Lenovo on the Lenovo Z2 Plus. The rest of the specifications are identical. The Lenovo Z2 Plus comes with a 5.0-inch 1080p Full HD IPS LCD screen with 2.5D curved glass, Super Retina LTPS (Low Temperature Poly-silicon) technology, pixels density of 441PPI and Anti-fingerprint coating.

Powering the Z2 Plus is Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU for graphics, 3GB / 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 32GB / 64GB of storage. The phone is fuelled by 3,500mAh non-removable battery, which can be charged using the built-in USB Type-C connector.

Lenovo Z2 Plus has a 13MP 4K main camera with 1.34μm pixels lens, ISOCELL pixel image sensor, EIS + sensor-aided anti-shake, f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens, PDAF+CAF dual-focus mode, fast 0.1 second focus and high intensity flash. There is also an 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera with 1.4μm pixels sensor and 78.9° degrees wide viewing angle.

Additionally, the Lenovo Z2 Plus is equipped with the U-Touch 2.0, a front-facing multi-touch fingerprint scanner that supports multi-finger gesture. You can use it to unlock the device, authorise and make payments, as well as controlling and switching between applications by simply pressing, or swiping your finger left and/or right.lenovo-u-touch-2-fingerprint-scanner-weboo-coThe fingerprint scanner can also perform 7 different tasks, and can be customised to launch your favourite apps. According to Lenovo, it is also paired with a self-learning algorithm, which detects irregularities when the skin is peeled, wounded, dry, etc and adjusts accordingly. It also works with even wet and oil fingers.

Like many other smartphones, the Lenovo Z2 Plus also comes packed with 6 sensors including; 3-axis gyro sensor, 3-axis electronic compass, accelerator, proximity, pedometer and RGB light sensor, along with the Sensor Processing Unit (SPU) of the Snapdragon 820 to track real time data for health and applications.

Other features include; Google Now is the default launcher in the Lenovo Z2 Plus, dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth v4.1, 4G LTE Cat. 6 with speed up to 600mbps and VoLTE support, Dual Nano SIM port and GPS.

The Chinese company is pricing the Z2 Plus slightly higher than the ZUK Z2, priced at about $275 (4GB RAM+64GB ROM). The Lenovo Z2 Plus is priced at Rs 17,999 (~$270 – £205 – €240) for the 3GB RAM+32GB ROM and Rs 19,999 (~$300 – £230 – €270) for the 4GB RAM+64GB ROM. The Lenovo Z2 Plus will be available exclusively at http://Amazon.in starting September 26th.
