Opening the box of a new product is always exciting and fun. Moreover, if the product gets a lot of attention, that will double the excitement. This is exactly what happens when you unbox LG’s latest flagship smartphone, the LG G6.
Let’s take a quick look at the features and functions of the new LG G6 smartphone.
First, starting with the LG G6’s key specs. The LG G6 features a 5.7-inch QHD + (2,880×1,440) FullVision display. The G6 is the first smartphone to ever come with an 18:9 screen aspect ratio. Compared to conventional 16:9 aspect ratio displays, the 18:9 format offers more viewing space and a more immersive experience when streaming videos and playing games.
We would loved to see the Snapdragon 835 on-board the LG G6, but sadly the device comes with the Snapdragon 821 chipset, which is paired with 4GB of RAM, and a generous amount of expandable internal storage, 64GB to be precise. The G6 is fuelled by a 3,300mAh battery which supports Quick Charge 3.0. It also houses a fingerprint scanner on its rear, and is also equipped with the new Quad DAC, which lets you enjoy a vivid sound close to the original sound. The LG G6 runs Google’s latest operating system, that’s Android 7.0 Nougat alongside LG’s user interface.
On the exterior, the LG G6 has a very small top and bottom bezels, making it possible to achieve a 5.7-inch wide screen even in a small size body that measures 148.9 × 71.9 × 7.9mm. The device houses a volume button (left), tray with Nano SIM and micro SD at the same time (right). The G6 is covered with matte metal, delivering robust and beautiful body.
On the back, there is an advanced dual camera with flash and a fingerprint reader. The LG G6 has curved back edges, making it easy to grip.
Unlike Apple, Lenovo and other companies, LG has kept the widely used 3.5mm headphone jack, which sits nicely at the top of the device. The USB Type-C connector which offers faster charging time and data transfer is positioned at the bottom near the speaker and microphone.
It is a great idea that LG has decided to make the LG G6 water and dust proof. The device now comes with IP68 rating, which is perfect for protecting it from dust or sand. It also can withstand 1.5m of water for about 30 minutes.
And you can worry less about accidental drops and other rough environments during everyday use because the LG G6 has been designed and built to be dependable even when the going gets rough. LG says that the front curved corners protects the display from getting shattered in case of a sudden drop.
The front display is scratch-resistant, thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which also covers the rear of the LG G6.
Finally, the camera, the most important element when choosing a smartphone. With the LG G6 you should not be disappointed. The dual 13MP rear cameras, including a 125-degree lens on the wide angle, the LG G6 captures panoramic shots that regular phones cameras can’t. The G6 delivers an outstanding and unique camera experience by creating seamless transitions when zooming in and out between the wide-angle and standard camera lenses even during 4K video capture. The G6 also comes with an expanded 100-degree field of view with its 5MP front camera, which means users can take selfies or wefies without the need for a selfie stick. Plus, the wide angle camera reduces edge distortion, which makes for more natural images.
