LG today announced the availability of its Watch Urbane 2nd Edition. The 2nd Edition of the Urbane watch is LG’s first Android Wear smartwatch that features 4G LTE cellular connectivity. It is set to go on sale globally starting this month in the United States, Korea and some European countries. Consumers in Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States will get their hands on the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition in the coming months, according to LG’s announcement.
What’s interesting and totally different about the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition from most smartwatches is the ability to answer calls and check messages anytime, anywhere without the assistance of a tethered smartphone. It’s like carrying your smartphone on your wrist all the time, great if you want to stay connected at all times or if you are unable to use your phone for whatever reason.
The watch has a stainless steel body with three buttons on the right side, providing quick access to shortcut settings, as well as LG Health and apps. Additionally, an ambient mode can now be enabled or disabled with a simple press of the crown button. In addition to the 16 included watch faces, fitness-related features such as heart rate tracking, workout tips and stress level monitoring are also offered.
The full-circle P-OLED display has a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels and pixel density of 348ppi (pixels per inch). It is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 768MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory and a high-capacity 570mAh battery with Power Saving Mode to last throughout the day.
The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition is IP67 certified, making it water & dust proof. It is compatible with Android and iOS devices. The inbuilt accelerometer, Gyro, Compass, Barometer, PPG and GPS allow you to track your sport and health activities, and also alerts you to incoming notifications.
The watch comes in Space Black, Opal Blue, Luxe White and Signature Brown colour options. Unfortunately LG did not announce the retail price of the Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, however the company says that the price will be announced locally at the time of availability.
