Microsoft Flight Simulator has launched the Junkers F 13, the second aircraft in its “Local Legend” Series, to commemorate its first-ever City Update (select German cities).
The F 13 is a single-engine, low-wing monoplane produced by the German aviation company Junkers that first flew on June 25, 1919. As the world’s first all-metal civilian transport plane, employing Duralumin (an aluminium alloy), and boasting cutting-edge engineering applications, particularly in its wing design, the F 13 was one of early aviation’s most creative aircraft.
More than 300 F 13s were built over the 13-year manufacturing span, crewed by two and having seating for four in the cabin.
The well-built, dependable, and steady aircraft flew all throughout the world, with a few even flying until the early 1950s.
