Chinese smartphone manufacturer Meizu, in partnership with Canonical, announces the launch of the MX4 Ubuntu Edition in Europe. The MX4 Ubuntu Edition was also launched to developers in China on May 17th.
The Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is priced at €299.00 Euros and is available to buy across Europe by invitation through Meizu’s website. The invitation system in the form of an interactive origami wall on Meizu’s website.
The wall is filled with fun and interesting glimpses of the Meizu Ubuntu phone along with a number of invitations which is randomly generated on a daily basis. Only few 100s devices are made available daily, and you only have three attempts per day for your chance to pre-order the MX4 Ubuntu Edition, if you win you have 72hrs to complete your purchase.
In terms of specification, the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition comes in gold and silver colors, it boasts a 5.36 inch FHD IPS display with resolution of 1920 x 1152 pixels, 418ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
It is powered by an octa-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6595 (ARM cortex-A17 2.2GHz x 4 + ARM cortex-A7 1.7GHz x 4) processor and PowerVR G6200 GPU for graphics. There is 2GB dual-channel LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of built-in storage.
The device is packed with 20.7-Megapixel rear camera with 4X digital zoom, 300° degrees panorama lens, Blue glass filter, 5-element lens, ƒ/2.2 aperture, LED flash and a 0.3s Autofocus motor. At the front there is a 77° degrees wide angle 2-Megapixel front-facing camera with SONY IMX208 lens, 4-element lens, Blue glass filter and ƒ/2.0 aperture.
Meizu MX4 measures 144 x 75.2 x 8.9mm and weighs 147 grams with the large 3100mAh battery. The device supports 4G/LTE network connectivity and has Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/n/g/b/a, Bluetooth v4.0 and GPS and many sensors including; ambient sensor, gravity sensor, hall effect sensor, infrared proximity sensor, gyroscope, digital compass and an ambient light sensor.
