Chinese consumer electronics company Meizu Technology Co. has unveiled the Meizu MX5 device. The new phablet features an eye-catching sleek metal body design, AMOLED display, 20MP camera and a fingerprint sensor.
The Meizu MX5 made with a single piece of T6063 aluminum which weighs 250g that engineered to produce a 21g metal body. Inside the metal body frame there is a 5.5-inch AMOLED Full-HD display which is made by Samsung.
The screen has a resolution of 1290 x 1080 pixels, 401PPI, 100% NTSC color gamut and 350 cd/m² maximum brightness. It also has Meizu’s MiraVision technology that enables both the screen brightness and screen colors can be dynamically adjusted to balance great vision and battery life in all light situations.
Optimized for Meizu’s Flyme 4.5 OS, the MX5 is powered by a 64-bit Mediatek Helio X10 Turbo, an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with 3GB LPDDR3 RAM. For graphics, there is PowerVR G6200 GPU. The device comes with a choice of built-in storage; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB with no microSD option for storage expansion.
For photography, there is a good size 20.7-Megapixel rear camera equipped with a 6P blue film lens which filters unwanted light, a Laser-aided focus, a two-tone flash, ƒ/2.2 aperture.
The main camera’s lens is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It can focus in just 0.2 seconds within a range of 50cm in bright and dark conditions. It comes with different shooting modes and is capable of capturing 4K Ultra HD videos and 720p slow-motion videos at 100fps.
The 5-Megapixel front-camera has a ƒ/2.0 aperture, FotoNation 2.0 smart selfie enhancement and Face AE face light boost.
The MX5 is equipped with the mTouch 2.0, a fingerprint identification system which has a stainless steel metal ring with 0.48s response time, 360° degrees identification angle and five fingerprint modules.
In terms of connectivity, the MX5 is a 4G enabled and supports dual-SIM, dual-standby, and has a dual Nano-SIM slot. It has a dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth v4.1 and GPS. Additionally, it is packed with the latest sensors including; Hall Effect sensor, Gravity sensor, IR proximity sensor, Gyroscope, Ambient light sensor, Touch sensor and Digital compass.
The Mx5 host a large 3150mAh battery on-board and has mCharge; a fast charging technology capable of charging the battery up to 25% in 10 minutes, and up to 60% within 40 minutes.
The new device comes in Silver, Grey and Gold and measures 149.9 x 74.7 x 7.6mm and weighs 149 grams. The Meizu MX5 is slightly cheaper than the newly announced Huawei’s Honor 7. The Meizu MX5 is set to retail in China for ¥1799 ($290 – £190 – €260) for the 16GB model, ¥1999 ($325 – £210 – €290) for the 32GB and ¥2399 ($390 – £250 – €350) for the 64GB version.
