Today in India’s New Delhi, Lenovo owned company, Motorola has launched the fourth generation Moto G smartphone in two variants – the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. The Moto G4 Plus will go on sale exclusively at Amazon starting tonight in Black and White colour options. The Moto G4’s availability and price are yet to announced.
Moto G PlusBoth devices were previously leaked, so here is a quick reminder of the specifications. Starting with the Moto G4 Plus, Motorola’s first smartphone to offer the biometric authentication system in a form of fingerprint sensor positioned at the front of the device. Also at the front, there is a 5.5-inch Full-HD 1080px display with 401PPI (pixels per inch) and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Powering the Moto G4 Plus is a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 (MSM8952) SoC paired with Adreno 405 GPU and a choice of RAM and built-in storage; 2GB+16GB or 3GB+32GB. There is also a microSD card slot that offers up to 128GB of additional storage. The G4 Plus also hosts an all-day 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower feature; giving you up to 6 hours of power in 15 minutes of charging.

In the camera department, there is a 16-Megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF (Phase Detection Auto-Focus) assisted with laser autofocus and colour balancing dual LED flash. The front of the G4 Plus is equipped with a 5 Megapixel camera with ƒ/2.2 aperture, 84-degree wide angle lens and display flash.

Moto G4The Moto G4 has nearly identical hardware specifications to the G4 Plus, however, there are slight differences. The Moto G4 has a 13MP rear camera and is also offered with only 2GB of RAM alongside 16GB of storage. Additionally, the Moto G4 does not have a fingerprint scanner. Everything else is the same as the G4 Plus.

The Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4 also have water repellent nano-coating bodies, dual SIM slots and 4G LTE Cat 6 and Cat 4, respectively. Both phones will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on-board. The Moto G4 Plus is priced at Rs. 13,499 (~$200) for the 2GB RAM + 16GB model and Rs. 14,999 (~$225) for the 3GB RAM + 32GB model.
