Several photographs of a new Chromecast streaming media device with the same design as the present Chromecast with Google TV which arrives with a voice remote appeared last week. That model offers 4K HDR capability and was released almost three years ago. This new device may only offer 1080p resolution, but it will still use the same Google Assistant remote to manage the Chromecast.
According to new reports, the Chromecast with Google TV HD 2022 will retail for $40 and is in stock at American shops. The new Chromecast could arrive soon, but we question if it will arrive before Google’s October 6 event – while the timing indicates it might go on offer on the day of the official launch.
The leaked promotional retail images of the Chromecast with Google TV (HD) reveal the overall design of the streaming media device. In addition to the white-background mockups, a number of lifestyle shots indicating the look is comparable to the present Chromecast with Google TV.

We’re not sure why Google would launch a Chromecast that looks precisely like another device unless it intended to replace it. Perhaps Google will change its Chromecast strategy and sell a $40 entry-level model before introducing a more powerful model with a more expensive price tag and additional capabilities. Take these rumours with a dose of caution.

Google will have its yearly hardware event on October 6, where it will reveal the new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, a new Pixel Watch, in addition to reports that we may see some new Nest Home hardware, as well as the Chromecast with Google TV.
