Chinese start-up OnePlus today has officially unwrapped its latest flagship device, the OnePlus 2 at an event in China. Most of the specifications of the new device were already revealed by the company itself and the Chinese certification agency TENAA. The new OnePlus 2 packs the latest high-end specs and has a low-cost retail price.

OnePlus 2 Price and Specifications

The new OnePlus 2 has a sandstone texture back and is offered with different material styling option; including bamboo and wood effect. The device features alloy of aluminum and magnesium body frame. It measures 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.85 mm and weighs 175 grams.

OnePlus 2 Full Specifications

It comes with a 5.5-inch Full-HD 1920 x 1080p LCD display with 401PPI, the latest Octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm 810 Snapdragon v2.1 processor clocked at 1.8GHz, Adreno 430 GPU, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 16GB / 64GB of internal storage.

OnePlus 2 Fingerprint sensor

The OnePlus 2 is equipped with a physical home button which works as a fingerprint sensor, positioned at the front of the device. It looks similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6’s fingerprint scanner. The company claims that the advanced fingerprint sensor is faster than Apple’s Touch ID scanner.

OnePlus 2 Camera

In terms of cameras, the OnePlus 2 has a 13-Megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, Laser Autofocus, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and f/2.0 aperture. The front camera is an 5-Megapixel front-facing shooter. The main camera is capable of shooting 4K videos and Slow Motion 720p videos at 120fps.

There is a good size 3300mAh built-in battery and a USB 3.0 Type-C port which offers a fast charging time and a quick data transfer. It also means no more plugging it incorrectly, every way is the right way. Furthermore, if the OnePlus 2 ships with Android M or when gets updated, the new USB Type-C will allow you to use it as a Battery Power Bank to charge other devices.

The OnePlus 2 runs Oxygen operating system which is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS. The device is 4G enabled and has Dual Nano SIM slot, Wi-Fi: 2.4GHz 802.11b/g/n and 5GHz 802.11a/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/GLONASS, 3.5mm Headphone Jack and an Alert Slider; a dedicated notification button. Unfortunately there is no NFC, (Near Field Communication) is a type of communication that involves wirelessly transmitting data from one device to another devices in a short range.

OnePlus 2 Price

As for the price, the OnePlus 2 is slightly higher than its sibling, the OnePlus One. The OnePlus 2 is set to cost $329 for the 16GB version and $389 for the 64GB model. Price vary for each country, see above. It will be available to order online on August 11th via the company’s invitation system.
