OnePlus has officially unwrapped its latest flagship smartphone – the new OnePlus 5 features a sleek, super-slim (7.2mm) metal body design equipped with top of the line hardware specs and the support for 34 network bands, making it an ideal choice for global consumers. Despite being a flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 5 is pitched below the asking prices of flagship smartphones from Samsung and Apple, starting at only $480.Side by side, the OnePlus 5 looks very similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. The device boasts a dual rear camera with two lenses; a 16MP lens, delivering an excellent photography in low-light conditions, thanks to the super bright f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilization, and an additional 20MP telephoto lens, delivering a faster autofocus by up to 40%, and also enabling Portrait mode, by creating a blurred background bokeh effect whilst keeping the main subject in the photo sharp.

Under its slim body, the OnePlus employs a 3,300mAh battery, which delivers a 20% longer battery life than the OnePlus 3T. The Dash Charge promises to deliver a full day of battery life in just 30 minutes of charging. The on-board Snapdragon 835 chipset is aided by up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. There is also a 6GB RAM + 64GB storage version on offer, which is cheaper than the 8GB + 128GB version.Future owners of the OnePlus 5 should enjoy the company’s Oxygen user interface (based on Android 7.1 Nougat OS). The Oxygen UI comes with some useful features such as; expanded screenshots, allowing users to easily take a photo of a whole webpage or article. It has also added three new off-screen gestures, allowing you to draw a shortcut pattern to jump quickly to programs like the camera, a secure storage box and a do not disturb mode for gaming, which shuts down unnecessary notifications while playing a game.

Sadly though, there is no 4K Ultra HD or even QHD display option like other flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 5 still uses an AMOLED 1080p Full HD display on a 5.5″ screen panel, just like the OnePlus 3. Anyway, OnePlus has kept the 3.5mm headphone jack on-board its latest flagship smartphone, which is a good news to many OnePlus fans.
