Samsung has announced details of its latest generation of premium foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4, and its latest wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro.

When the two smartphones are released later this month, they will each come in three price ranges with different amounts of storage. Featuring a 7.6″ display with 128GB RAM and 4,400mAh dual battery, the powerful Fold4 is the first Samsung device to come with Android 12L, the version of Android for larger screen devices.

Samsung new devices have PC layout similarity

Its new taskbar makes the layout similar to the PC layout, offering access to favorite and recent apps and accepting swipe gestures. Users can instantly switch full-screen apps to pop-ups or split the screen in half for multitasking. Chrome and Gmail support drag and drop, allowing users to copy and paste links, photos, and other content from one app to another.

The full suite of Microsoft Office and Outlook applications use the foldable display to provide more information on the screen, while the S Pen allows you to draw and take notes on the go.

The main features and specs of the Galaxy Flip 4

The Flip 4 has a 6.7-inch FHD+ main display and also has three cameras – a 10MP selfie camera plus ultra-wide and wide-angle cameras, both 12MP. The Flip4 has a large 3700mAh battery with ultra-fast charging that can restore 50% battery in around 30 minutes, and all versions have 8GB of RAM, 5G support and Android 12 as standard.

Both devices boast extras such as the ability to shoot hands-free video or take whole group selfies from different angles with the FlexCam, which can be activated by partially tilting the device. FlexCam is also optimized for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp thanks to Samsung’s partnership with Meta, which the company says is ideal for content creators and bloggers.

Are Samsung foldable devices good choice?

Samsung said users can take high-quality screen-cover selfies using the main camera with improved Quick Shot technology, which can also be used to record video before switching to Flex mode to continue recording hands-free without stopping.

“Samsung Galaxy foldable devices are built on the foundations of our philosophy of openness, enabling new possibilities with complete customization inside and out,” said Conor Pierce, Corporate Vice President, Samsung UK & Ireland.

Galaxy Buds 2 Pro

The Galaxy Buds2 Pro, meanwhile, are 15% more compact than the previous generation and feature a secure fit to prevent in-ear movement. Users can take calls on the go thanks to the headphones’ active noise cancellation.

Samsung Galaxy Z Series global availability

The devices will be available from August 26 in various US and UK retailers.
