Samsung has quietly launched a new Galaxy smartphone in Asia. Perhaps for a reason! The Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt is an $88 entry level 3G handset destined for consumers in Bangladesh. The low-end device is aimed at first-time smartphone users and/or those on a limited budget.

The Galaxy J1 Nxt comes with a 4-inch 480 x 800 (WVGA) TFT display, Quad-Core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage with microSD card slot supports up to 128GB. The device is also equipped with a 1500mAh removable battery, capable of delivering up to 8 hours of 3G talk time.

The phone also has a 5-Megapixel rear camera alongside a VGA front-facing camera. There is no flash nor autofocus with either cameras. However the Galaxy J1 Nxt can record and play HD (1280 x 720px) movies at 30fps (frames per second).

In addition to its dual SIM slot, the Galaxy J1 Nxt has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz, Bluetooth v4.0, GPS+Glonass, Micro-USB 2.0, 3.5mm headphone jack, and an Accelerometer sensor. The device measures 126.6 X 63.1 X 10.8 mm and weighs 123 grams. It ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop along with Samsung’s custom made user interface.

The best thing about the Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt is that the device comes one year warranty, which also covers the battery. Buyers can also choose their favourite colour as the J1 Nxt comes in White, Black and Gold. Consumers in Bangladesh can get their hands on Samsung’s Galaxy J1 Nxt form local retailers for 6,990 Bangladeshi Taka (~$88 – £63 – €80 – $123 AUD). It is unknown if the Galaxy J1 Nxt will be offered in other markets.
