The Samsung Galaxy S22 series was introduced to the world on February 9, 2022, as the successor to the Galaxy S21 series.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra may be an all-in-one phone, but that makes the $1,000 Galaxy S22+ the phone for everyone.
It improves upon rather than reinvents the design principles that Samsung introduced in last year’s S21 range, improving the camera and significantly improving haptics. The S22+ offers a slim and well-built design with a stunning display, feature-packed software, and improved cameras, but there are bugs in the battery and camera software that should have been ironed out before this phone hit the market.

The display is everything we ever wanted!
How good is the display of Galaxy S22+?
The S22+’s 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED display is simply perfect, with deep blacks and rich colors and HDR 10+ certification. Its FHD + resolution is not impressive on the spec sheet, but you won’t notice any lack of sharpness because of it. The refresh rate of 120 Hz ensures smooth navigation.
The screen is flat, without the curved edges sometimes found on Samsung phones, and has a thin black bezel. Although it is limited to 1080p resolution, the vibrancy, and clarity of colors and text, it is immediately obvious that Samsung claims to have better peak brightness.
The company claims 1,750 nits, but that’s in the manually set “extra brightness” mode, which shouldn’t be necessary for all but the most dazzling summer days.
Software, performance, and battery.
What’s the performance of Galaxy S22+?
The Galaxy S22+ comes with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, but it’s really hard to tell the difference in performance between it and the Galaxy S21 Ultra with the Snapdragon 888 in front of it.
This phone has Debut of One UI 4.1 (up to Android 12). If you’re already familiar with One UI, the look and feel of the user experience on the S22+ come as no shock. You’ll find familiar icon designs and color palettes, the Galaxy Store next to the Google Play Store, and menus.
One of the most exciting things about Samsung phones is the promise of software support that comes with them. The company has already committed to delivering three years of OS updates and four years of security updates for most of its newer phones, but with the arrival of the Galaxy S22 series.
The new Samsung Galaxy S22+ with Exynos Exlipse 920 is the first mobile GPU with ray tracing! Isn’t he crazy? You’ll find the Exynos 2200 variant (which I tested) , while users in markets like the US and elsewhere can expect the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead.
The S22 series phones use the same Qualcomm ultrasonic fingerprint sensor as the ones in the S21 series, but the technology works more reliably on newer models. While my S21 Ultra struggles with fingertip and side finger touches, the S22+ detects my finger faster and more accurately. However, the smaller S22 lacks Wi-Fi 6E support.
That’s not a big deal right now —Wi-Fi 6E routers are rare and very expensive— but mainstream adoption may be just a few years away.

How long will the battery of Galaxy S22+ Lasts?
The S22+ performs the best of the three S22 models, probably due to better thermal management. The S22+’s 4,500mAh battery life is good, though not as good as the S22 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery. The phone lasted 10 hours and 30 minutes in our grueling test (in which we continuously stream HD video over Wi-Fi) , which is about a full day of use.
The larger S22 Ultra ran for just over 12 hours, while the smaller S22 lasted just nine hours. Modern charging systems work by providing the most power when the battery is flat, meaning you can get to 50% in 23 minutes, but 0-100% in just over an hour – that’s from a 45W PPS. Charger.
Using a 25W PPS charger, the numbers are almost identical, and with a voltmeter attached to the phone to measure the current, it’s clear why: The phone consumes no more than 25 watts at the peak.
Cameras.
What the Galaxy S22+ camera like?
The Samsung Galaxy S22+ has a triple camera on the back. It features a 50MP main sensor with dual-pixel autofocus and OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS, isn’t it? On the front is a 10MP selfie camera with autofocus.
The primary camera uses a 50MP sensor and captures much more detailed images than its predecessors. The images taken with the 50MP lens are clear, precise, sharp, and full of details. The dynamic range is good, and color tones are mostly accurate. In daylight, the images were beautiful greens, grays, reds, blacks, and browns.
They deliver the high-quality results I’ve come to expect from Samsung phones. The S22+ delivers sharp, richly colored photos right out of the camera, and you can download Samsung’s Expert RAW app if you want to process the image yourself in Lightroom Mobile or other editing software. The S22+ can record video in resolutions up to 8K at 24fps and 4K at up to 60fps.
Price and availability.
What is the price and availability of the Samsung S22+?
The S22+ retains its predecessor’s pricing (at least in the US and United Kingdom), starting at £949/$999 for the base 128GB storage SKU and going up to £999/$1,049 for the 256GB variant. Prices in Europe are slightly higher than last year at €1,079 and €1,149 for the two storage SKUs.
If you want to invest in something really good and worthwhile, you consider definitely buying the Samsung Galaxy S22+. The S22+ is available now, and the 128GB model will set you back $1,000 MSRP, which is about $100 more than it should really be.
It makes other Samsung Galaxy phones look like a good deal in comparison. The S22+ is an excellent phone, and if you spend a thousand crowns on it, you won’t be disappointed.
