The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge smartphones are now available to pre-order in UK, ahead of the on-sale date of 10th April 2015. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge is now available to pre-order from all high street retailers and networks including Vodafone, Carphone Warehouse, Three, EE, O2 and Amazon UK.
Samsung is offering customers who have pre-ordered devices from the Samsung Experience Store and Samsung.com will be able to pick up their device a day earlier on 9th April.
The Carphone Warehouse is currently offering the Galaxy S6 SIM-Free in Gold, Black and White with retail price of £599.99 for the 32GB, £659.99 for the 64GB and £739.99 for the 128GB version. The Galaxy S6 Edge is also offered in Gold, Black and White with 64GB / 128GB storage capacity, however, its only available on contract. The Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge feature a 16MP rear camera with LED flash, F1.9, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), HDR, and support 4K recording. At the front of the devices there is a 5MP front-facing camera with Low Light Shot feature, the front camera supports 1080p video recording. Both devices have wider aperture, which should improve their ability to take photos and videos in low light conditions. The camera also features quick starting time, it only takes 0.7 second to start quick snap shot. There is also IR sensor and heart rate sensor at the back of the devices, positioned next to the single-LED flash.
Samsung uses its own Exynos 7420 eight-core 64-bit CPU in both devices, a powerful yet a smaller 64-bit processor which uses less power. The Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge comes with 32GB, 64GB and 128GB internal storage, with 3GB LPDDR4 of RAM. There is no microSD slot, therefore, the storage in both devices is non-expandable. The Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge comes with 5.1 Quad HD Super AMOLED 577ppi display 2560 x 1440p resolution, with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The Home key works as a fingerprint sensor and supports Samsung’s new Payment system.
