Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphones; the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are few weeks away from the official unveiling which is allegedly scheduled for late February, presumably at the 2016 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, followed by a global rollout starting in early March.

So what do we know about the Samsung’s new S7 smartphones. For a start, the S7 and S7 Edge seem to keep similar body design and size to last year successors; the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. It is believed however that the S7 and S7 Edge will have IP67 water and dust proof bodies with Super AMOLED QHD 2.5D arc glass covered screens; 5.1-inch screen for the S7 and curved 5.5-inch for the Galaxy S7 Edge. The screens on both S7 devices may also come with the “pressure sensitive display” technology similar to the one found in Apple’s iPhone 6s and Huawei’s Mate S.

Both S7 devices are expected to have their batteries pumped up while keeping the wireless fast charging technology on-board. The Galaxy S7 is said to have a large 3000mAh battery instead of the Galaxy S6’s 2550mAh battery, whereas the Galaxy S7 Edge comes equipped with a larger 3600mAh; an increase by 1000mAh to the previous S6 Edge model. Both long-lasting batteries are built-in, therefore they are non-removable.

Samsung is competing with its archrival Apple, on all levels particularly when it comes to camera performance which is the main feature in any flagship smartphone. The S7 devices are rumoured to have 12-Megapixels sensor as opposed to the 16-Megapixels sensor found in the S6 devices. Despite downgrading in the camera’s Megapixels, the new camera should deliver better image quality, and when paired with the f/1.7 aperture instead of f/1.9 in S6 generation, images are not only clear and sharp, but also low-light conditions should be a thing from the past.

What else? These flagship smartphones are all about power and performance. And for that, the S7 handsets are expected to come with 4GB of RAM paired with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor for the USA variants of the Samsung Galaxy and Samsung’s Exynos 8890 processor for international markets. As for storage, Samsung seems to have listened to its consumers and decided to bring back the microSD expansion option to the upcoming S7 smartphones. As well as the microSD port, the S7 devices will also be equipped with USB Type-C ports, providing quick charging time and data transfer.

The render images above show the 21st which could be the unveiling day of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. From now, until the 21st or 22nd February, things may change, but we just have to patiently wait and see what Samsung has installed for us at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
