Samsung has announced its Galaxy Tab Active in Australia focusing on business consumers on mind. The Galaxy Tab Active is a ruggedized tablet that is built enterprise-ready, productivity-ready and solutions-ready to meet the everyday demands and security needs of business users. It is especially effective for use in rough workplaces that involve proximate outdoor use thanks to a bundled protective case, water/dust resistance, an 8″ daylight-readable LCD screen and long battery life with a user-replaceable battery.
The Galaxy Tab Active is IP67 certified and is dust and water resistant and can stand up to 1M submersion in water for up to 30 minutes. With a protective cover the Galaxy Tab Active can withstand a drop of up to 1.2M to help provide increased durability and protection while maintaining a slim and portable design. It designed for business users in tough work environments such as construction, health and logistics. It has a coverless micro-USB port which maintains easy connectivity while keeping dust and debris out.
The Galaxy Tab Active has an 8-inch TFT display with 1280 x 800 (WXGA) Resolution, CMOS 3.1 MP rear camera with AF and flash and 1.2 Megapixel front-facing shooter. It is powered by 1.2GHz Quad-core processor combined with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot which supports up to 64GB of storage expansion.
The Tab Active is packed with 4450mAh removable battery which can power a full work day with up to 11 hours of battery life (standard 1080p playback). The device runs Android 4.4 Kitkat and will be offered in two variants; 4G+Wi-Fi version and Wi-Fi only model. The Galaxy Tab Active measures 126.2 x 213.1 x 9.75mm and weighs 393 grams. The Galaxy Tab Active is already available in other markets since 2014 and is expected to have a similar retail price which is approx AUD $899.99
