In a teardown, Samsung provides a very comprehensive look inside the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. The new Galaxies flagship smartphones are packed the cutting-edge technology and functionality.
Both, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have glass-and-metal bodies with a touch of water and dust resistance certification, microSD card slots and excellent cameras. But, beyond the Galaxies S7 shiny exteriors reside top-of-the-line hardware components, so lets explore!
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge feature Quad HD 2560×1440px Super AMOLED displays with an addition “Always-On Display” feature; allowing you to check notifications and other information at any time when the screen is locked and dark.
The bracket of the Galaxy S7 is designed to protect the components from shocks and other impacts.
Liquid Cooling System
In order to ensure the Galaxy S7 can handle even the toughest of processing loads—for example, from really graphics-intensive games—these new devices have added a liquid cooling system, with a very thin thermal spreader.
microSD Card Slot
The new Galaxy S7 and S7 edge have hybrid SIM trays allowing you to expand the devices memory up to 200GB.
Optimized for better performance, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are equipped with the most powerful chipsets, providing more than 30 percent higher performance than the Galaxy S6.
Universal Flash Storage (UFS) 2.0 flash memory and LPDDR4 RAM, provide faster boot time, copy and transfer times and seamless multitasking.
Samsung Pay has quickly become the most widely accepted mobile payment system, due to its unique combination of NFC technology and magnetic secure transmission (MST), ensuring it works nearly anywhere that accepts credit cards.
Wireless Charger IC
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge feature fast charging wirelessly, as well as when they are wired.
The heart rate sensor enables users to monitor their physical information, which can be checked through the S Health app. In addition, the front-facing camera of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge lets you take selfies using your heart rate monitor sensor.
The new Galaxy S7 and S7 edge smartphones are IP68 certified, making them water and dust resistant for up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes. Meaning, all the ports, including the USB charging terminal are made from anticorrosive materials like nickel and platinum, with a gore portable electronics vent to ensure the elements stay out.
Both cameras have an aperture of f/1.7, enabling the 5MP front-facing camera to shoot good images in low-light conditions. In addition, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are also equipped with 12MP main camera with Dual Pixel sensor, that uses every pixel in the sensor for phase detection, and an aperture F1.7 lens. Both the sensor and the lens allow sharper images faster, even in lower-light conditions, making it the most versatile smartphone camera yet.
Both the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge boast larger batteries; 3,000mAh on-board the Galaxy S7 edge and 3,600mAh for the S7 Edge, enough for you to watch an entire, 13-episode season of your favorite TV series on a single charge.
The above image illustrates the following hardware parts.
The antenna is welded into the device, freeing up more internal space and making it more stable.
Protects the main board and offers additional water and dust resistance.
The high-power 1.2-watt speaker with a smart amplifier delivers high-performance sound.
Both Galaxies S7 have curved glass design. They are more comfortable to hold with a body that fits just right in your hand. Also, they are smudge magnets, a case is a must!
